About Us
Hout Bay Heritage & Culture for Development (HBHCFD)
Our work brings together communities, schools, researchers, artists, historians, heritage practitioners and volunteers to ensure that the stories, traditions and lived experiences of previous generations are not lost but are preserved for future generations.

We believe that heritage is more than remembering the past. It is a powerful tool for education, reconciliation, social cohesion, economic development and community pride.

Through oral history, genealogy, exhibitions, festivals, educational programmes and community partnerships, we create opportunities for people of all ages to reconnect with their roots while inspiring young people to become custodians of their own heritage.

Our Vision: To be a leading community heritage organisation that preserves, promotes and celebrates the cultural heritage and living history of Hout Bay for present and future generations.

Our Mission To document, preserve and promote the diverse heritage of Hout Bay through community participation, education, research, storytelling, cultural programmes and strategic partnerships that contribute to social development and nation building.
